You Don't Have To Suffer From SAD All Winter Long!

If you suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, otherwise known as SAD, or you know someone who does then you know how as the seasons change and days become shorter that it can take a toll on mental well being. Medication can help but light therapy can also help you, without having to rely on medications or dealing with their side-effects. However, if you are currently taking medication prescribed to you by your doctor and you don't feel exactly like yourself, you can supplement your medication with light therapy.

While on a trip browsing through local stores on a visit to see some friends, I found the Verilux Happy Light 4500 on sale. I had intended to purchase some such light therapy device similar to this one for some time, yet hadn't gotten around to it. Here it was right in front of me, so I decided to purchase it and give it a try.

My Review Of The Verilux Happy Light 4500

I first used my Verilux Happy Light during the evening when I had the chance to unbox it and plug it in. The "High" setting was too bright for the afternoon so I switched it to the "Low" setting as recommended in the user manual. In minutes, I began to feel more alert and focused and less "run down." I knew the Verilux Happy Light was definitely for me!

It is especially useful in the mornings when you're still in shuffle mode and aren't quite awake yet. I use it for a half hour after I get out of bed and check my emails and read the news online. I can say with assurance that it helps me get up and moving faster than normal. And whenever I feel "down" or "blah" I just switch it on for a few minutes and bask in the glow!

The unit itself has a rather small footprint and is intended to be used on a table or desk within close proximity to you. The bulb and electronics do produce some heat but its rather negligible and you don't have to worry about it causing a fire. It is recommended that you don't cover the back of the unit or place it flat against a wall in order to ensure that it gets adequate ventilation and prolongs the life of the bulb.

I'm definitely keeping this on my desk for now!

Is The Verilux Happy Light 4500 For Me?

It certainly might work for you if you suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD. This model is especially useful for people who work in an office and don't have a window or who could use supplemental light. It is also good for people who need a little therapeutic light in the morning before work or in the evening after work.
